Main Experience
Jihong Yu received her BS (1989), MS (1992), and PhD (1995) from Jilin University, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow first at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and then at Tohoku University in Japan during 1996-1998. She has been a full Professor in the Chemistry Department, Jilin University since 1999. She worked as a visiting professor at Stockholm University in 2004. She was elected as the Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015, the Fellow of TWAS in 2016, the Member of Academia Europaea in 2019, and the Foreign Member of Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 2021.
She served as Associate Editor of Chemical Science (2012-2020) and has been an Executive Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society since 2021. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Journal of Chinese Universities (Chinese Edition) and Chemical Research in Chinese Universities (English Edition), and is a member of the Editorial/Advisory Boards of Chemical Reviews, Accounts of Chemical Research, JACS-Au, Advanced Materials, Chem, Matter, and CCS Chemistry, etc.
She was the Vice President of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Currently, she serves as the Director of the International Center of Future Science, Jilin University, the Vice President of the Chinese Chemical Society, the Chair of the Chinese Zeolite Association.
Research Achievements and Honors
Her research interest focuses on the designed synthesis and application of zeolitic nanoporous materials in catalysis, separation, host-guest assembly, energy storage and others. She has co-authored over 400 research papers published in journals such as Science, Nature, Nat. Rev. Mater., Acc. Chem. Res., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem, Adv. Mater., etc.; obtained over 50 authorized Chinese Invention Patents; co-published 8 books. She has been consecutively recognized as an Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researcher in Chemistry since 2014, and a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in Chemistry for 2023-2025.
She served as the Chief Scientist of a National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) and led the project supported by the National Key Research and Development Program of China. Currently, she leads the Science Fund for Excellent Research Groups (formerly the Basic Science Center Program) funded by the NSFC and the Center for international cooperation and disciplinary innovation ('111 Center').
She has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and honors, including the National Natural Science Award (2007, 2012), the IUPAC Distinguished Women in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Award (2017), the National Exemplary Teacher Award (2019), the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award (2021), and the inaugural Women in Zeolite Science Award (2025).
